Installation/Configuration Manual Emulator Seat Sensor Airbag for BMW All Models (1997-2010)
This manual provides detailed instructions for installing the seat occupancy sensor simulator in BMW vehicles. This device is designed to replace the original seat occupancy sensor, which can fail over time, and prevent the supplemental restraint system (SRS) warning light from coming on.
Prerequisites
• Tools needed: screwdriver, wire cutter, multimeter.
• Basic familiarity with vehicle electrical wiring.
• Opening the emulator box:
Step 1: DIP Switch Setting
• For 1997-2006 BMW vehicles : Set switch 1 to “ON” and switch 2 to “OFF”. (See image A)
• For 2007 and later BMW vehicles : Set both switches 1 and 2 to “ON”. (See image B)
Step 2: Locating and Preparing the Seat Occupancy Sensor
• Locate the seat occupancy sensor module under the front passenger seat.
• Identify the wires that are connected to the sensor.
• Carefully cut the indicated wires (see image) and connect them to the simulator.
Step 3: SRS Warning Code Reset
• After installing the simulator, fasten the seat belt in the front passenger seat.
• Use a BMW diagnostic equipment to clear the SRS warning code.
• Check that the SRS warning light has turned off on the dashboard.
Final Considerations
• Be sure to follow the installation steps correctly to avoid problems with the airbag system.
• This device is for use on off-road vehicles only and should not be used on vehicles operating on public roads.
