Many customers ask us " should I change the cabinet to put the Android screen in my BMW e46? ", and that is why we have decided to make this short post to help future customers decide whether or not to change the cabinet to lower the air controls.
Before continuing, let's make it clear that this post is only and exclusively intended for those BMW's e46 that DO NOT have a standard screen ( if your BMW has the standard screen and you want to change to the Android one, you should NOT replace the cabinet, since it already has the 2 din space to fit it without problems and there is no need to lower the climate ).
There is no regulation or requirement that says YES, it is essential to change the furniture. So... why is there any doubt about whether to change the furniture or not?
If we look closely, the air control has rounded corners, and the space we have in the glasses holder has square corners... so... when we lower the controls in place of the glasses holder, there will be a gap in the lower corners (it will lose aesthetics and dirt will get into the inside of the dashboard).
On the other hand, if we do not change the furniture, we will encounter another inconvenience, and that is that when trying to fit the air conditioning into the glasses holder, we will not be able to get it to stay in place, since the glasses holder does not have the upper and lower anchors that make a 'click' and allow the air conditioning to be attached, therefore, if we do not replace it, we will have to use double-sided tape or two small screws so that the air control module does not move.
The solution to these two problems is to change the cabinet to lower the climate control, but if you don't care about the aesthetics of your BMW and you are a bit handy at making the module fit and not move, you can put in an Android screen without changing the cabinet.
Our recommendation is to change the furniture and make the installation simple and without losing the essence of BMW.

We also want to inform you that changing the cabinet is very simple, since it is only held in place with two screws located at the bottom of the trim where the gear shift is.
