The first years in racing

BMW began its journey in Motorsport in the 1930s, competing primarily in road racing. With its 328 model, BMW quickly gained renown, achieving important victories in such prestigious events as the Mille Miglia race.

The rise of BMW in Motorsport

BMW picked up the baton in the 1970s, establishing the BMW Motorsport GmbH division, which was dedicated to developing racing vehicles. Later models, such as the BMW 3.0 CSL, dominated touring car competitions, while others such as the BMW M1 Procar found success in endurance racing.

BMW in Formula 1

BMW made its official entry into Formula 1 in 1982 as an engine supplier, taking its first victory that same year. Years later, in 2006, BMW acquired the Sauber team to create the BMW Sauber F1 Team.
